Centrifugal Technology to Protect the Environment

Protecting the environment is vital to everyone’s future, making the treatment of wastewater increasingly important. Municipalities, in particular, are under stringent regulations for treatment and disposal of biosolids. GEA Westfalia Separator is a leading provider of decanters for dewatering, which significantly reduce sludge volumes, and for mechanical thickening of waste activated sludge, which reduces the load on the digester and improves digestion and gas yield.

We offer the widest range of centrifuge capacities from 8” to 41” bowl diameters and flow rates from 5 – 1,500 gallons per minute. Our equipment provides many benefits over alternative technologies including a much smaller footprint, aerosol and odor free operation, C-I-P (no manual cleaning), minimal operator attention, high G-forces and continuous operation.

Our patented technologies and rugged product design provide:

  • A positive drive system to reduce energy consumption
  • GEA Westfalia Separator varipond® for on-the-fly adjusting of the pond depth
  • A patented drive for  high solids yield despite variations in feed conditions
  • End pull-out for ease of maintenance
  • Advanced control technology for simplicity and safety.

The new ecoforce line of decanters is designed to perform 24/7 under the toughest conditions. Customers benefit from:

  • up to 50% energy savings due to naturally deeper ponds and a new summationdrive system
  • increased bowl speeds for improved dewatering
  • ease of maintenance and a longer service life
  • reduced operator supervision

Industrial Wastewater

Manufacturers across a wide range of industries can benefit from wastewater treatment for recovering valuable raw materials, recycling and reusing water, and saving on energy, water and disposal costs. Decanters are typically used for thickening and dewatering waste sludge, and are designed for situations involving high solids loads. Separators are used for clarifying (the removal of particles) and for separating liquids of varying densities, usually involving higher throughput volumes.

Potable Water, a Life-sustaining Resource

The world’s drinking water comes from either ground water or surface water, both subject to pollution. Treatment involves the removal of undesirable constituents and the dewatering of solids generated by treating water with chemicals. Decanters from Westfalia Separator are ideally suited to high performance clarification and the highest possible dewatering of solids.
